Deserve Better
Two island groups, one constituency, one voice. We're building a local movement for common-sense politics in Britain's most northerly communities.

Our Islands Are Changing
If you were born here, grew up here, and your family has fished or farmed these islands for generations, you will recognise what is happening. The young leave. The daughters go south to university on the mainland and do not come back. They build their lives in the cities, start families there, and visit at Christmas if the ferries are running.
Some of the outer islands have so few families with deep roots left that the character of those communities is changing beyond recognition. True Orcadian families are becoming fewer. The indigenous population is not replacing itself.
This is not an accident. It is the result of policy that was never designed with island life in mind. Income tax, national insurance, and the cost of housing take so much from working people that raising a large family feels financially impossible. Young couples who might have stayed, bought a house, and had four children instead find themselves choosing between the islands they love and the material conditions needed to build a life. Too many leave. Too many do not return.
Westminster policy is written for urban centres hundreds of miles away. Our 13 council wards across two island councils, with 44 elected councillors between them, deserve representation that understands what it actually means to live at this latitude, on this water, in this wind.
Restore Britain Orkney and Shetland exists to build that representation: from the ward level up, with real local infrastructure, and a policy platform that starts from island life rather than treating it as a footnote.

What National Policy Means Here
Every policy area below starts from the same question: what does this mean for people living on these islands, not in theory, not in London, but here, where the ferry is the road, the wind is the power, and the fishing ground is the economy. Click any card to read the detail.
